BREAST IMPLANTS WERE INTRODUCED IN THE EARLY 1960S. THE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN PERSISTENT SINCE THE BEGINNING- A SHELL OR SAC MADE OF A SILICONE ELASTOMER (LIKE A RUBBER) FILLED WITH EITHER SILICONE GEL OR SALINE (SALT WATER).

The current, fifth generation breast implants are now safer and more reliable than ever. In the past 50 years, innovation in silicone filled breast implants has focused on the improvement of the shell’s properties and of the silicone gel. Despite all the research and the investments made, the weight of the implants for both silicone and saline remained constant at about 1g for every 1ml of volume. The patented B-Lite technology developed by G&G Biotechnology is a major breakthrough in breast implant technology, significantly reducing implant weight while maintaining the form and function of traditional implants.

THE LIGHTWEIGHT B-LITE BREAST IMPLANTS

The lightweight B-Lite breast implants weigh 25%-30% less than traditional implants and so while traditionally, an average sized 350ml implant weighs about 350g (or 700g a pair), the same size and shape B-Lite implant only weighs approximately 245g (or 490g a pair). The B-lite implants utilize existing, state of the art shell technology with all the proven benefits such as a barrier layer, and focus on improving the filling. For the filling, silicone gel is enhanced with hollow borosilicate microspheres. The medical grade silicone gel is mixed with the microspheres during the manufacturing process and this mixture is used to fill the shell. The two materials are then cured together producing a composite. This process in effect creates a reinforced gel that is also lightweight. Using processes developed for space exploration, the microspheres are chemically bound to the gel. The strength of adhesion between the microspheres and the gel is stronger than the adhesion between the gel and itself. This ensures that in the unlikely case of rupture, the microspheres will not disperse and will remain coated with a layer of gel. Biologically, a ruptured implant appears the same to the body regardless of whether it is B-Lite or traditional. Because the gel is reinforced, the B-Lite gel will spread less than standard silicone gel in the case of rupture.

Materials

All materials used in the manufacturing of the B-Lite are made in the USA by the highest quality, ISO certified manufacturers. Silicones are registered with the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration). The implants are manufactured in Germany under the stringent regulatory supervision of MDC Medical Device Certification GmbH – a leading German Notified Body approved for breast implant regulation by the European competent health authorities.
